ESET Security Review

ESET offers a great firewall engine and anti-malware software. It also comes with a password manager that includes form filling, protection for browsers and a password management. Its parental control, secure browser, and anti-theft capabilities are adequate, but nothing exceptional. It doesn’t include a VPN or microphone protection, but it does provide remote screen capture or camera access to view what a burglar has been up to on your mobile or laptop.

The program comes with an attractive interface that is easy to grasp and operate for beginners, but it also offers detailed information and power user features for those who need it. The company also offers excellent customer support, which is available via their website or directly from the client using the “support” tab which is right at the bottom of the application.

ESET Internet Security’s status bar at the top shows you the protection it is providing to your computer. It also provides precise statistics on the security. When something important happens to your computer or you have to take action, the program displays simple and concise notifications on the desktop in the system tray.

However the anti-phishing tools of the antivirus were a bit over-vigilant and blocked quite a number of websites that are not listed on PhishTank which I trust. In addition when we connected an USB storage device into our laptop the program automatically scans it which was a bit irritating as most other programs simply ask you for permission to scan the device.
